What do you love most about your pet bird?

Question by Mir: What do you love most about your pet bird?
I like how my cockatiel Dillon starts screaming and pacing around whenever he sees or hears me because he is so excited and wants to come out and play with me. :) He only likes girls with red hair. xD He loves my shoes and he always shares food with me. Here’s a pic of him eating my fries instead of his food that was right behind him. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=796294&l=c1a41a1926&id=100000202405765
He got mad when I took it away from him. He thinks fast food is good for birds. xD

I also love how my lovebird Millie climbs upside down on the ceiling of her cage and eats sunflower seeds from my hand. I call her Spidey. And I like how my parakeet Sky always jumps on the perch in the middle of her cage and flaps her wings really fast to just have fun and let out all her built-up energy, lol. And my finch Buzz talks to me! (not english) :) And my other two finches (Puff and Blackbeak) race each other to their water bowl to take a bath whenever I put new water in their cage. And they make such cute sounds! Jet (parakeet) is really shy, but he’s so sweet and has a beautiful song if you actually take the time to listen. And last but not least, Silly (lovebird) is really sweet and always does nice things for my other lovebird and cleans up around her cage. :)

What’s the best thing about your pet bird(s)?

The sight of this single paw print on the beach struck me with the same emotional force as the eponymous Robinson Crusoe’s discovery of a human footprint on the sand in Chapter XVIII of that classic book. I wasn’t alone on Baltra Island! Somewhere nearby, a feral cat was at that very moment watching my every move from its hiding place. I wouldn’t be doomed to a life of solitude after all.

OK, feral cats really shouldn’t be on the Galapagos. For all I know, they dig up sea turtle eggs and eat them. Bad kitty! But, as surely as stray cats have been insinuating their way into human homes and hearts since time immemorial, cats have also found their way to the archipelago. It’s unlikely they arrived adrift on seaweed rafts; more likely, they jumped ship at the first sight of one of the many species of tasty endemic birds, who were easy pickings having never known terrestrial predators.

Let’s all see if we can get the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to fund a massive recovery project that will locate each and every last feral cat in the Galapagos, neuter them, and find them new homes with loving families who know what they’re getting into. And, while they’re at it, a team composed of the very best evolutionary biologists should be charged with comparing and contrasting the populations of feral cats on the archipelago’s different islands to see if the Galapagos has wrought any changes in Felix domesticus since that species arrived on those shores.

Because feral cats make notoriously difficult pets, the Foundation would also provide a lifetime supply of mild tranquilizers for the cats, their human adoptive associates, or both. Given the Foundation’s massive endowment, such a project probably wouldn’t cost more than a day’s interest on the accumulated interest on the principal.

Problem solved!

If Bill and Melinda aren’t receptive, hit up Paul Allen. If you let him bring his biggest yacht, his jet plane, all his comic books, and a gaggle of babes and a couple of celebrity basketball players, he’s sure to go for it.

A few months back, out of boredom i bought two pairs of parakeets and two pairs of african lovebirds. Upon watching these birds, i came to realized that they are very playful and like kids they also love toys and so i roamed around every petshop just to look for nice bird toys they can play with. I was able to buy a few but it get broken by my birds in a day or two, some just last for hours , although thats the way it must be — it only mean that i got healthy playful energetic pets. I saw beautiful bird toys in the internet but they cost much being imported. One more thing i do not have a card or a paypal account to buy toys from the online store. With that i have decided to make toys instead. With my bare hands and the supplies and materials which i bought in bulk, one creation led to another creation and so forth. I fancied doing the bird stuff which made my birds happier and geezz they multiplied tenfolds. My birds pen becomes a sight in the community i live with, many children would come and see my birds. And others have insisted ordering and buying my pets and accessories, that made ibonlandia came to existence.

Is a lovebird a good bird?

Question by Laurissa DLP: Is a lovebird a good bird?
I was at a little pet shop yesterday and I noticed these blue lovebirds. They were so pretty. There were two of them. Anyway, I thought that they would be so neat to have. Does anyone recommend them or are they not the best bird to have? Can you train them easily or are they quite hard together? Should I only get one for a while?

I have 6 lovebirds! Yes 6! I love em to death and they are my favorite bird. I love them because they are sweet and they have clownish behaviors which will keep you entertained. You should only get one for now because it will get attached to you whereas if you bought a pair they would get attached to each other. You can certainly train them but it takes a lot of time and commitment. And you said they were blue, I think they might be blue-masked lovebirds which are very popular, you should look it up to see if they are. Hope you decide to get one!
